Ebiet G. Ade
Ebiet G. Ade (born in Wanadadi, Banjarnegara, Central
Java, 21 April 1954; age 56 years) is a singer and songwriter of
Indonesian nationality. Ebiet known for his songs with the theme of nature and
the grief suffered marginalized groups. Through songs that were ballad genre,
at the beginning of his career, he was 'taking' an atmosphere of Indonesian
life in the late 1970s until the present. The theme song variety, not only
about love, still there are also nature-themed songs, socio-politics, disasters,
religious, family, etc.. The touch of his music had pushed an update on the
world of pop music of Indonesia.
All the songs he wrote himself, he never sings the song created by someone
else, except God's blessing wading song co-written by President Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono.
Born the son of Abid Ghoffar Aboe Dja'far in Wanadadi, Banjarnegara is
the youngest of 6 brothers, sons Aboe Dja'far, a civil servant, and Sauda, a
cloth merchant. In the past he harbored a lot of ideals, such as engineers,
doctors, painters. Everything is off the mark, Ebiet even so the singer -
although he preferred to called a poet because of his background in the world

After graduating
from elementary school, signed Ebiet PGAN (Education Master of Religious
Affairs) Banjarnegara. Unfortunately he did not feel at home so moved to Yogyakarta. Muhammadiyah junior high school at 3 and went
on to SMA Muhammadiyah I. There he was active in the PII (Indonesian Islamic
Student). However, he can not go to college to the Faculty of Economics, University of Gadjah Mada in the absence of cost. He
prefers to join vocal group when his father, who retired gave him an option:

Name Ebiet
gained from his experience during high school English classes. His teacher
foreigners, used to call Ebiet, perhaps because they say A to E. Inspired by

by his friends. His father's name is used as a last name, abbreviated as AD,
then written Ade, according to the sound of their mention, Ebiet G. Ade. If

The biggest

Emha Ainun Nadjib (poet), Eko Tunas (short story writer), and EH Mammal (the

Career
Ebiet first learned guitar from his brother, Ahmad Mukhodam, then learn
the guitar in Yogyakarta with Kusbini. At
first he only sang with art performances held in Senisono, Patangpuluhan,
Wirobrajan, Yogyakarta and Central Java, memusikalisasikan poems by Emily
Dickinson, Nobody, and received positive responses from viewers. Even so he
still considers this as a hobby mere kegiataannya. However, at the instigation
of his close friend from PSK (Persada Study Club, founded by Umbu Landu
Paranggi) and also his friend a boarding house, finally Ebiet willing to also
advance to the world music scene of the archipelago. Having rejected many times
in various record companies, he eventually accepted in Jackson Records in 1979.

Ebiet reluctant to leave the cottage not far from the cottage palace, then the
facts have been pointed straight path for him to Jakarta. He was through
recordings by recording successfully. He also had time to do the recording in
the Philippines
to achieve better results, ie, Camellia III album. However, he refused to
record her songs in Japanese, when he got a chance to appear in public there.

made the recording at Capitol Records, USA, for album of his 8th day. He
included Addie M.S. and Dodo Zakaria as a colleague who helped her music.
The songs become

the world Ebiet Indonesian pop music in a range of years 1979-1983. About 7
years working on recordings in Jackson Ebiet Record. In 1986, the company that
catapulted him record was closed and Ebiet forced out. He had founded his own
record company EGA Records, which produces 3 albums, netted the Sun, Moon
Sketches Gold, and a face.
Unfortunately, in 1990, Ebiet an "uneasy" with Indonesia,
finally selecting "asceticism" of the frenetic music industry and
choose to stand on the periphery only. New in 1995 he released the album Paper
Butterflies (supported by Ian Antono, Billy J. Budiardjo (alm), Purwacaraka,
and Erwin Gutawa) and Love-clear Dew (supported by Adi Adrian of KLa Project).
In 1996 he released the album I Want to Go home (supported by Purwacaraka and
Embong Rahardjo). Two years later he released the album Gamelan containing 5
songs re-arranged old with gamelan music by Rizal Mantovani. In 2000 Ebiet Sinetron
out the album Ballad of Love and in 2001 he issued the album Language of
Heaven, which is supported by Andi Rianto, Erwin Gutawa and cultivation. After
that album, Ebiet start again alone for the next 5 years.
Ebiet is one
singer who support the album We For Them, an album issued in relation to the
tsunami of 2004, along with 57 other musicians. He was indeed a tragedy
specialist singer, his songs often proved to be the theme of disaster.
In 2007, he
released a new album called In Love: 25th Anniversary (supported by Anto Hoed),
after 5 year absence records. The album itself is a memorial for the
anniversary of his 25th, with all 13 other songs that are still in the old
arrangement.
The reappearance
Ebiet on September 28, 2008 in Zone 80 in the event Metro TV is a drug for the
fans. With the friends of whom attended Eko Tunas, Ebiet G Ade long rendition
of the ever popular in the 80s.
